The fashion elite gathered at the British Fashion Awards
Judged by a panel of 300 fashion industry experts, the prestigious British Fashion Awards took place last night, all in aid of honoring the movers, shakers and dominators in the fashion industry.
The evening, hosted by the hilarious Jack Whitehall, drew a star-studded attendance, including Donatella Versace, Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Sienna Miller, to name a few. With 16 awards presented, the crème de la crème of British fashion talent was celebrated with aplomb.
Highlights of the evening included Christopher Kane winning the “Womenswear Designer of The Year” accolade. Kane has had a stellar year, and has firmly positioned himself at the top of his game after two applauded runway shows this year and Harry Styles being awarded “British Style” of the year. Last year’s winner, Alexa Chung presented the award to Styles, who appears to be the true breakout star from pop’s biggest boy band One Direction. The beautiful Edie Campbell won “Model of The Year” having graced pages as the face of McQueen, Lanvin and Marc Jacobs, as well as landing her first British Vogue cover this year.
Celebrating the up-and-comers is one thing, but the BFA also paid homage to two much loved fashion icons and legends with their Special Recognition Awards. Writer Suzy Menkes OBE was honored in regards to her 25-year career at the International New York Times, while supermodel Kate Moss was acknowledged for her decade-spanning career and influence on the fashion industry. While presenting Moss with her award, designer Marc Jacobs announced, “London might have two Kate’s but in my mind there is only one. Kate Moss.”
