Hollywood royalty gathered in London’s Covent Garden for 2014 BAFTA film awards
London saw an influx of world class celebrities flocking to the city for London Fashion Week and the Bafta film awards at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Hollywood royalty gathered to celebrate a fantastic year of film Sunday evening of which the ladies boasted effortlessly glamorous and flawless hair and makeup. But it seemed to us that their outfits all looked a bit glum. Or was that just their wardrobes?
Watching the coverage we noticed an invasion of black gowns. Who or what were the film elite mourning?
Bragelina pulled a Britney and Justin by turning up in the same outfit of matching suits from Saint Laurent and Valentino. Still haven’t quite decided whether we love or hate this move.
Amy Adams played it safe in a classy Victoria Beckham look. Pretty? Yes, but a little tame compared with her previous red carpet efforts. Cate Blanchett, winner of Best Actress for her role in Blue Jasmine wore a demure Alexander McQueen gown accessorized with an incredible up do.
Of course, there were a few leading ladies that stood out amongst the crowd:
The ever glorious Lupita Nyong’o filled in for Jennifer Lawrence by wearing Dior Couture. This high fashion newcomer can do no wrong in our eyes and looked stunning in the strapless green number.
Lily Allen channeled her inner Helena Bonham Carter in a Vivienne Westwood gown but gets our Best Dressed points for having the most exciting outfit there. She accessorized with what seems to be a pink broom, contributing to the clean up afterwards.
And finally; fearless fashionista Ruth Wilson showed Angelina how it’s done in a metallic Antonio Berardi suit with red embellishments. The gorgeous ensemble, the sultry make up, the chic hair; even though she wasn’t nominated for a BAFTA this year, she was a winner in our eyes.
