The London Lookbook: Jeans Lovin

The London Lookbook: Jeans Lovin

I’m not much of a jeans wearer, I’m drawn to the clothes on the dressier end of the spectrum and I have trouble integrating denim into my look. However, these old timers have belonged to my husband and I can’t get enough of their broken down charm (luckily for me, he doesn’t mind me raiding his wardrobe). Hubby usually wears them to do the gardening, so they have a genuinely distressed softness and shabby chic. I’m not much of a fan of things that have been purposefully distressed, it feels a little too Britney Spears circa ’99. However, I’m down with things that are time worn and scruffy so these jeans fit the bill nicely.

As much as I love the fact that these are my husband’s work wear jeans, I don’t want to actually look like I’m off to the Garden Centre to buy some manure. Tattered basics should always be elevated by the addition of polished extras. I’m loving the ongoing sweater trend, and this playful pink number from Whistles has got all the springy charm that I’m craving right now. To continue the sports day theme I’ve chosen these chunky strap, crossover sandals from Topshop. I love the heaviness of these shoes; they’ll be perfect for offsetting flirty summer dresses on balmy nights out in the city. Just because I can’t leave well enough alone, I’ve finished the look off with a delicate bracelet ring that I bought in the January sale from Zara. It’s got more than a touch of the Daisy Buchanan about it, and I love its intricate filigree details contrasted against the sporty, downtown vibe of the rest of my look.
