Nicole Kidman looked like a beautiful royal princess on the Cannes red carpet
Grace of Monaco, the film that opened the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival, was met with mixed reviews, but the grace of monochrome, embellished and sheer gowns were all big hits on the red carpet.
Nicole Kidman looked elegant and classy in a classic silhouette for the press call of her controversial film. The white crepe Altuzarra dress had slits on the tailored shoulders, and the pleated skirt was cinched in by a waist belt. With a perfect blowdry, red lips and dazzling smile Nicole looked perfectly polished.
A complete contrast to the wholesome refinement of Nicole Kidman was Gong Li in a Roberto Cavalli black embellished gown. Leather trim, an open back and a stunningly slick bun all contributed to an extremely sultry look.
Also part of the monochrome movement were Zoe Saldana in Victoria Beckham, Adele Exarchopoulos in Louis Vuitton and Kendall Jenner, who was attending the festival for the first time, in Chanel.
Red carpet royalty and star of Grace of Monaco Nicole Kidman kicked off another trend in Cannes as she stepped out in possibly the most embellished dress we’ve ever seen. With a precious sweetheart neckline, padded hips and oodles of ornate adornments, Grace Kelly herself would surely have been impressed by the Armani Privé design.
A special commendation must be given to Blake Lively who evidently chose to ignore the monochrome / embellishments / sheer fabrics memo. And boy are we glad she did! The geometric neckline, fitted bodice and flowing chiffon pleats of her Gucci gown made Blake our favourite red carpet look of Cannes so far. We can’t wait to see what she’ll wear next!
