Summertime dressing with Wondaland (The best way to show that summer is here to stay!)
How is it already August? There’s less than one month left of summer?! This horrifying revelation could cause us to go one of two ways: we could a) give up now, dig out our chunky knits and curl up in bed with a hot chocolate awaiting the inevitable arrival of icy winter and her bitterly cold bite, or we could b) embrace these warmer weeks while we still have the chance.
We will not be allowing our strappy sandals to be cruelly forced to the back of the wardrobe, nor will we be hearing heartbreaking tears of abandonment coming from our floral skater skirts. There’s still so much we have planned for this month, from lying out in the sun with the girls to date nights at our favourite rooftop bar. So just as we’re injecting our social calendar with superfluous summer fun, we believe our wardrobe deserves much the same attention. It’s only fair.
The best way to show that summer is here to stay is colour: bright and printed and clashing. Right now we’re having a major summer holiday romance with Wondaland, lusting after the label’s playful looks. With celebrity fans including Sienna Miller, Poppy Delevigne and Margo Stilley it looks like we’re not the only ones who have fallen head over heels for this flirty, feminine brand.
Unfortunately, not every day of summer is technically a holiday. Even in blazing sunshine the world still keeps on turning and work still has to be done. Donning a fitted skirt with a flip hem in blue, pink, orange, yellow and every colour in between is the perfect way to work hard, play hard. Wear with a structured blazer and sleek updo to keep the silhouette polished and office appropriate, adding more clashing colour with a clutch bag and bright mani pedi to make this look seriously summer appropriate.
A playsuit is the ultimate fun in the summer sun outfit. It’s right there in the name: playsuit. Wondaland’s romper is particularly gorgeous; the neat empire line makes it chic enough to wear to smarter occasions this month, but its floaty shoulders and bold bird print will ensure everyone gravitates towards you as the most fun person in the room. This one doesn’t need to be over accessorised, there’s already enough going on for it to speak for itself; an elegant pair of sunnies is all that’s required.
Wondaland’s zigzag top is perfect for chilling out in warmer weather because it’s loose enough to allow for a little cooling breeze, but graceful enough to create a feminine figure. The fabulous thing about this spaghetti strap number is that there are so many colours you can accessorise in almost any way you want, picking up on any of the gorgeous summery hues. Play with textures: the top already has a neatly woven feel, add a chunky rope necklace and tortoiseshell sunnies for an incredible mash up of clashing prints and textures that feels so wrong it’s so so right. With a pop of coral colour on the lips all that’s left to do is get out there and make the most of what August has to offer.
