Rihanna makes waves in Dior at the TIDAL launch
Beginning in New York on Monday 30th March, a tidal wave of excitement quickly washed over the music industry as Jay Z announced the launch of TIDAL, the first ever artist-owned global music entertainment platform. A couple of fairly famous faces joined him on stage (Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, anyone? You might have heard of Alicia Keys and someone named Madonna?), to explain that as part of this groundbreaking concept, they’re all considered founding members and have equity stakes in the streaming company. This is big news for music fans.
The night proved to provide big news for fashion fans too, as YCB favourite Rihanna made waves in Dior. The 27-year-old singer wore a hazy pastel cotton jacquard jacket and skirt, the deep cut blazer flaunting one of the many tattoos she’s famous for. The look was previously showcased on the Dior Spring 2015 catwalk with low grey hand knitted and calfskin toe boots, but we have to say we prefer Rihanna’s decision to wear the white versions with this look – they make a seriously dramatic statement.
A girl after our own heart, the singing and sartorial star left no details unseen to, matching the white pocket detailing with a super-on-trend white manicure. This is why we love Rihanna’s very clear sense of style: she’s capable of taking a very feminine colour and giving it a little edge with tattoos, razor sharp nails and sultry make up.
It is, of course, unsurprising that RiRi chose to rock Dior to the high-profile event given just two weeks ago it was revealed that she’d join the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman as a face of the iconic fashion house. She’ll appear in the fourth episode of Dior’s Secret Garden video series, which sees models swanning around the lavish Palace of Versailles in beautiful Dior gowns, and will also feature in a Spring 2015 print campaign. With the news of this relationship official, we’re so excited to see how Rihanna plays with more Dior looks in the coming months!
