5 trends to try this month
It’s August! It’s time to savour wearing sandals, sun hats, swimsuits, and sundresses. Luckily there is still time to soak up the sun. Every summer, there are popular trends that you see everywhere, and everyone is rocking them in their own way. That’s the great thing about fashion, you can take a trend and change it up to fit your personality. You can make any trendy fashion piece your own. Contrary to popular belief, there are no rules in fashion. Here are a few trends to try this month:
1. Printed Shorts:
You can dress them up, dress them down, wear them with flats, wedges, sandals, or heels. Whether they’re cotton or pleated, pair the shorts with a t-shirt, tank, or a matching top. The possibilities are truly endless and you can create a lot of different looks with one simple pair. Macys, Nordstrom, and Bluefly have some great options.
2. Shirt dresses:
Shirt dresses have been around for a while but they made a huge splash this summer. You can walk down a street in London or Manhattan and spot at least five. Most shirtdresses definitely feel more on the casual side but with a pair of gladiator sandals, and some fun jewellery you can surely dress it up, like this one from Forever21. If your work office is more casual than corporate, this would be the perfect type of dress to wear when you don’t have a meeting or presentation to go to. It’ll keep you cool throughout the hot days, but still fashionable! This dress from Macy’s is a little more expensive, but a little more work appropriate.
3. Kimonos:
This light, patterned pick was huge last summer, but it carried over to 2015. They look good on everyone. They’re very flowy and look good with jeans, shorts, or leggings. Whether you opt for the short version or the long one, they are a summer staple. Like shirt dresses, if your office is more casual, you can definitely look sleek & chic wearing one to the office on a 100 degree day!
4. Preppy Prints:
Preppy prints like lemons, flamingos, banana leaf, pineapples, and gingham are everywhere!
5. Scallops:
It’s the season for scalloped skirts, shorts, and dresses.
Summer fashion is all about being versatile, comfortable, and feeling good about yourself. Whether you’re going to a BBQ or to work, it’s important to love what you’re wearing and being on trend is always an added bonus!
