Escape the city with exotic PJ’s

Not many of us are those mysterious ‘morning people’ we hear about; leaping out of bed as soon as the sun rises or the alarm goes off. Don’t you feel different about mornings when you’re on holiday? You race to breakfast, hit the beach, feel the sun on your face and not waste a second draped in your duvet.  Wouldn’t you like to feel this euphoria every day – even at home?

Desmond and Dempsey are the sunshine filled PJ collection bringing relaxed yet on trend sleepwear that you wouldn’t even mind the postman seeing you in. Their mission is to make mornings brighter, and with their vibrant hand painted exotic prints, inspired by travels and Sunday adventures, they certainly are achieving that.

The global love story behind Desmond and Dempsey is one the founding duo tend to shy away from telling, but we must touch on the timeless element of what makes their story so creative and adorable. Joel (Desmond) was based in London with Molly (Dempsey) in Australia and the two committed to Sunday Skype dates to keep their flame lit while at opposite sides of the globe. Joel stepped up his ‘Sunday shenanigans’ in the hope that Molly would cross the seven seas to be with him permanently. It worked! Joel won and Molly moved to London. The couple have since innovatively turned Molly’s desire for sporting Joel’s shirts to bed into a highly fetching and successful production of ‘his shirts for her.

Pretty PJs

Sail far from your heavy commute and day full of meetings with their alluring line. The PJ’s are fashion fit for rainy days, luxury hotel stays and the best form of escapism from the stress of every day city life. If we absolutely must rise and shine then there is no better way to do it than sporting one of Desmond and Dempsey’s signature, cami or long-sleeved sets designed in their three distinctive prints.

Your wake up wish-list begins with their Bocas print. Adorned with palm trees and tropical birds Bocas will have your heart floating to a sun-drenched tropical island where the feel of a cool sea breeze and sand between your toes sparks the most idyllic start to the day. Long gone are your thoughts of the crammed underground, right? The laid back way of life on the island of Bocas – where the two spent a roaming holiday – was where their Bocas print stemmed from. ‘Our Bocas print is often upside down on your PJ’s or inside out and we think a true reflection of the oh so easy town of Bocas del Toro.’ They told YCB.

The Stripe – a classic, crisp and fresh print which on closer inspection holds intricate details is build upon a polar opposite brotherly relationship. The Desmond and Dempsey stripe represents that as time goes by, your vision of someone can remotely change from your first meet. ‘Our D&D stripe is really their stripe. It is a simple classic stripe – but when you look closely it has details which make it special.’

The pretty Howie print features giant pineapples which transcends you into a lazy morning where your friendship with entangled cotton sheets, fruit smoothies and pancakes for breakfast makes your heart beat to the tune of the ocean – not to the crowds of feet pounding the city streets. Howie is based on the mad hatter Galloway family whose house (on Howie Street) was a place of comfort for Molly while growing up. ‘Our Howie print is in memory of this great house, big table and best memories.’

The Desmond and Dempsey’s print sets tell a personal story while capturing your wilder, adventurous senses. The transition from his shirt to her nightwear is a sentiment we can all relate to and revel in.

Sleep better, wake well and make your washed-out onsies envious with Desmond and Dempsey’s statement collection to be followed on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
