The SS16 shoe edit: introducing Chelsea Paris
Do you feel a bit like you’re stuck in the dreary, gray days of winter? In these slower, colder months, I’m always looking for a pop of inspiration, a burst of colour to lift me out of my rut and get me ready for the next season.
This month, I didn’t have to look further than the Chelsea Paris SS16 Collection to find exactly that. This season’s collection is full of fun graphics, strategic cutouts, unexpected details and gorgeous colours. The strappy sandals are essential for anything from an outdoor wedding to a creative work environment.
The first pair of shoes, a laced-up, butterfly-inspired style are the ultimate going out shoe, and the pale pink colour is the perfect pick for Valentine’s Day — and a welcome change from a typical red. But if pink isn’t your style, the shoe also comes in a glittering black that would pair well with a simple black, gray or even white dress.
If, instead, prints are your style, the black and white stilettos are a great balance between fun and professional. The shoes could be worn peeking out from structured black work pants or could top off a midi skirt and tucked-in top. Either the way, the black and white print will add a unique twist to an outfit while still saying classic.
But what about for those days when you’re running from meeting to meeting, dashing in and out of appointments, and you need a pair of shoes that will hold up and keep you stable? Chelsea Paris has given us a cool take on the stacked heel, featuring a crescent-moon shaped heel, bright colors and details like fringe and tassels. Feel free to take this opportunity to mix colours, wearing the cool blue with a dark maroon dress or a neon yellow skirt. You could also pair the tan version with a sleek brown dress or even a royal purple. Both are perfect for a day out with girlfriends or even a casual Friday.
However, if subtle isn’t your style, and you’re looking to go all out this season, try the multi-coloured (think dark reds, lime greens, and bright blues) sandals that feature intricate loops, thin laces and a surprise colour peeking out from under the toes. A similar style has only two colors but still has the same quirky feeling with cool looped straps and a short, chunky heel.
The collection also features an absolute showstopper with a tall black pair of heels featuring black, red, yellow and blue straps wrapping around the foot and up the ankle. The shoes feel reminiscent of a Piet Mondrian painting with blocks of color drawing the eyes straight to the heels. But don’t be intimidated, these can be styled just as easily as your normal black pumps. Throw on your favorite LBD if you want to play it safe, or pick one of the other colors and go all out. A fire engine red dress or a true blue top would pull out the pops of color in the heels and pull your entire outfit together. Feel free to accent the outfit with a messy bun and gold jewellery so you don’t feel too matchy-matchy!
Whether you want to treat yourself to something new or you’re just looking for a fun addition to your spring wardrobe, the Chelsea Paris SS16 collection has a pair of shoes that will bring your simple spring style to a new level of chic.
