When it comes to fashion, we always want to remain on the cutting edge. This means paying attention to not only the latest trends, but also the trends that are looming on the horizon. Now that spring has sprung (and is here to stay, #fingerscrossed!) and with summer just around the corner, it is important to stay on top of the upcoming trends. A new season calls for a new wardrobe, so read on to learn what you’ll be wearing this spring/summer!
1. Post Minimalist Vintage
The minimalist trend seems to slowly be falling by the wayside and a maximal vintage look is taking its place. While most live by the axiom of “less is more,” the word from the runways suggests that the opposite is true. Embroidery and embellishment is trending for spring/summer, as well as plenty of pussy neck bows, layers (time to play with texture, shape and colour!) and retro shapes. To complete the look, you can always add a few sharp modern statement pieces. A watch is always a classy accessory, and you should find a couple of models you’d like at World of Watches, now at reduced prices thanks to Discountrue coupons!
2. Pajama Sets
Yes, you read that right. Pajamas is the new leggings! More and more designers are now releasing two piece pajama sets, allowing you to merge the comfort of your bedtime clothing with the styles of the moment. Score the street-style look without a trace of irony as there are several varieties for women to choose from. Whether you prefer cotton poplins or star spangled silk, pajamas are definitely in for spring/summer’16.
3. Slip Dresses
While maximal looks are making serious headway in the world of fashion, an old staple from the 1990s has been making a comeback this spring. We’ve recently seen celebrities such as Rihanna, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner sporting the look, but this time around, there is a slight twist. Instead of the simpler strap numbers of old, additional colour play has been added, as well as bits of lace and ruching a la Kate Moss. It is safe to say that minimalism isn’t dead just yet.
4. Sequins, Sequins, Sequins
Once considered to be a garish, overly gaudy addition to any outfit, sequins are now in style and a major part of several trendy pieces that are set to hit stores all around London this spring/summer. Like the old saying goes, all that glimmers is certainly not gold and if you’re looking to add some sparkle to your next ensemble, sequins are the way to go. Unabashed bling is all the rage for the upcoming season.
5. New Romance
There are some who believe that romance is dead, but these people have clearly not been to a catwalk recently. This look tends to be frowned upon by all of the super skeptical fashion cynics, but this earnestly pretty style has turned quite a few heads on the runway. Cream, chiffon, pastels, feathers and ruffles are all in style, so be sure to choose your frocks accordingly!
