S/S’16 trend alert: The exposed shoulder

The exposed shoulder trend SS16 Roland Mouret

One of our favourite trends for the S/S fashion shows has to be the always elegant off the shoulder look (yes, you can literally give the cold shoulder!). A precursor to the cut out trends that has dominated high street and haute couture alike, the cold shoulder has been a firm favourite of red carpet darlings past and present. A signature look for stars like Bridgette Bardot and Marilyn Monroe, and more recently with a boho edge Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, it is a trend that will always be timeless.

A collection of exposed shoulder styles which we are loving this season are from no other than Roland Mouret! The shoulder cut out trend is both subtle and oh-so glamorous! Below are just a few of the most elegant pieces which will easily take you from day to night this summer:

The Tyres Top Roland Mouret

The Tyres Top (£495) incorporates two trends into one; exposed shoulders and a crop top all rolled into one gorgeous piece. The angular details are completed by delicate, spaghetti racerback straps to the reverse, while dropped shoulders create an incredibly feminine silhouette. This particular number comes in this beautiful navy and chic summery orange.

The Sercy Top Roland Mouret

This incredibly elegant top is a bright eye catching orange, perfect for an evening out on the town. The Sercy Top (£495) is essentially a Roland Mouret twist on traditional tailoring, creating a signature neckline with drop cold shoulder sleeves. This top is made in yellow and white stretch double crepe, creating a attention grabbing piece.

A definite ode to Bardot with this classic off the shoulder little number, The Glebe (£425) is crafted in a form-fitting silhouette which defines the waste with its sleek design. One of our favourites, it is a piece that is both timeless as well as elegant, and can be worn for almost any occasion.

The Goldney Dress from Roland Mouret

The Goldney Dress (£1195) has a modern interpretation of the classic halter neck dress with dropped cold shoulder sleeves and racerback straps to the reverse. This sophisticated number is available in rose and white, made in a stretch double crepe making it a very fitted but feminine shape; a guaranteed show-stopper of a dress!

The exposed shoulder trend is an easy style you can work into every aspect of your day-to-day look, stylish by day and seductive by night. We love this trend and we’re sure you do too!
