Everything you’ll want to know about accessorising your wedding dress
Getting married is an exciting time, you’ve waited all your life for this BUT without the proper planning, it can be hard for a couple to get the right results from their wedding. You want it to be your very own fairytale after all. One of the first things that a woman will want to do is select the wedding dress she will wear, as obviously that is the (ok one of the…) most important components to making your special day perfect.
The only way to find the right dress is by taking the time to research, research, research. That means scouring magazines (we love this part!), hitting up wedding blogs and of course Pinterest (our new favourite form of procrastination)! Don’t pretend you haven’t had that secret wedding board for the past five years, just waiting until the time is right….
Once the right dress is found, a bride-to-be will have to think about how to accessorise her outfit with perfect, subtle jewellery like drop earrings and silver necklaces. The following are some of the main pointers to consider when trying to accessorise your wedding dress!
1. Matching Metals are Vital
When attempting to have success with this accessorising process, you will need to be mindful of the metals you choose for your jewellery. The worst mistake that a woman can make during this process is not matching the metals they have chosen. Having gold and silver on the same dress can make things look a bit tacky and muddled. By taking the time to figure out what type of precious metals best suits your needs and dress, you will be able to reduce the confusion that comes with this selection process.
2. Less is More
Another very common mistake that most brides will make when trying to choose the right accessories for their wedding day is going over the top. Please stay away from this mistake. The last thing you want is to have the jewellery you are wearing overshadow the dress. You will want to pull it back a bit in the jewellery department (no statement necklaces, please- think elegance!) and go for a more understated look. If you are unsure about what you need to get, then you may want to speak with a personal stylist or jewellery professional to get a bit of guidance. As a general rule though, go for romance, something dainty and light rather than heavy and overpowering.
3. Don’t Overspend
Before you go out shopping for accessories, you will have to take the time to make a budget OR you might regret it later when your credit card bill comes through – we’ve all been there, right?! There are a variety of different jewellery pieces out there and some of them can be VERY expensive. Instead of overspending on this purchase, you will need to show some restraint (or at least try, we know it’s far too tempting at the best of times). If you know what you can spend beforehand, you will not have as much temptation to deal with. Taking the time to shop around online will allow you to get a good idea on what is out there and what type of jewellery best suits your needs!
Finding the right jeweller is a great way for any bride to get the guidance that they need to have success with this process and ensure your wedding outfit is simply perfect. The time that is put into finding the right professionals will be more than worth it in the end. Good luck!
