Founded in the capital in 2011 with city-chic fashionistas in mind, EmmaJane has created a capsule collection of sweaters, separates and accessories for every occasion. And the quality is unsurpassed. “Each design is composed of the highest quality ultra-fine under hair of at least two to three cashmere goats that survive the harsh minus 40 degrees Winters roaming the Gobi plains,” says EmmaJane. “During the plus 40 degrees summers, Mongolian herdsmen shave off the long hair which is then sent to our top cashmere spinners in Ulaanbaatar to be refined into the very finest yarn,” adds the designer, who prides herself on the timeless cuts and top-notch tailoring of her creations. And she’s right. Each piece speaks for itself with none of the bobbling or wear and tear you tend to find with cheaper high-street cashmere, which starts to look a bit sad after a few outings. EmmaJane adds: “The fine yarn is carefully dyed in specially selected rich, seasonal and classic colours and spun into the various plys needed for each of our designs. The collection is then knitted, washed in crystal-clear, cold water, pressed and individually hand-finished with unique natural trims sourced from all over the world.” And the attention to detail shines through in every piece, from the crisp colours to the buttons and trims.
It’s tricky to pick a favourite but we have to admit we are in love with the fine sweaters and flute skirt in the ready-to-wear collection. Perfect for a lovely Winter lunch with friends. The fine knits are also amazing to layer under skiwear for a stylish apres-ski reveal or a cosy family weekend in the country. It doesn’t matter how draughty the stately pile, or how long the walk, you’ll be toasty warm and ready for action rather than shivering on the side lines wondering when cocktail hour starts.
