How to Serve Tenniscore This Wimbledon

With Wimbledon kicking off today, now is the perfect time to sport the Tenniscore trend, which has been hot on our radar this Spring and Summer. Here, we spoke with Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred. Megan has provided insight on why this sport-inspired trend is having a moment, even more so right now and how you can nail this look for yourself.

Megan reveals: “Ever since Zendaya gave us a style lesson in method dressing during her press tour for Challengers, we haven’t been able to stop thinking about how we can incorporate more ‘tennis’ into our everyday wardrobes. And with Wimbledon kicking off this week, there is no better time to embrace this trend.”

“Defined by crisp whites, tennis court greens, preppy piping and sports-inspired accessories the ‘tenniscore’ trend feels like a fun, younger take on the Quiet Luxury Aesthetic. As the weather warms, we’re more inclined to get outside, and even if we’re reluctant about actually picking up a racquet and playing a set or two, we can’t help feeling that looking like we’re on our way to a leisurely afternoon tennis match is insanely chic right now.”

“Earlier this year, during the press tour for Challengers Zendaya showed us that tenniscore is about more than basic vests and skorts. Instead, she used interesting prints, campy accessories (hello, tennis ball heels) and opted for plunging maxi dresses offset by sporty headbands and pleats to show us how ‘Tenniscore’ can be elevated and updated for 2024.”

“Since then brands such as SKIMS and Gucci have released their own tennis-inspired collection, showing us that this trend will be with us all summer.”

Tips on how to style the ‘tenniscore’ trend

Megan recommends: “Luckily for us, the ‘tenniscore’ trend can be easily blended into regular outfits for a touch of elevation and summer fashion fun.”

“It is important to note that Tenniscore has a distinctly preppy feel, so items like headbands, white scrunchy socks and a jumper in cream or white draped across the shoulders will give any outfit a distinct Tenniscore vibe.”

“For everyday, swap out your regular midi or maxi skirt for a pleated version in white or cream. Instead of your regular white t-shirt, go for a polo style which you can layer with a preppy sweater vest.”

“You can take this trend to more formal events, by adding in Tennis accents to your regular date night or event outfits – think mesh inserts, green piping, preppy print like check and stripes.”

“If you want to add a more ‘Wimbledon’ feel to your outfits, I would recommend adding some strawberry red into your outfits – classic gingham print is perfect for this.”

Megan’s 5 top must-haves for this trend are:

  • Polo shirt
  • Pleated skirt
  • White headband
  • Tennis bracelet
  • Crew-necked white sweater
