The Princess of Wales Wore Celestial-Themed Earrings to Meet a Teenager Fighting Cancer

Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance yesterday. The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed 19-year-old Liz Hatton to Windsor Castle for a special event, where they presented broadcaster Lorraine Kelly with a CBE.

Having learned that the terminally ill teenager had created a photography “bucket list,” the royal couple invited her to capture the moment. After the shoot, Kate shared a heartfelt hug with Liz.

This marked Kate’s first appearance back at her duties following her chemotherapy treatment this summer – and she looked lovely as always. One detail that truly stood out was her choice of earrings, which jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a close look at.

Maxwell Stone commented: “The Princess of Wales wore her exquisite ‘Temple of Heaven’ earrings by Cassandra Goad, which are crafted from 9ct yellow gold and each measure 47mm. The stunning earrings pay tribute to the elegance of the Emperor of China, who was regarded as the Son of Heaven, embodying the celestial power over his reign. This makes them an incredibly symbolic piece of jewellery.

A cherished addition to her collection since 2010, these £2,780 earrings were last worn by Kate during the BBC Radio 1 Teen Hero Awards in 2018. Their reappearance yesterday was particularly meaningful, as she met with a teenager battling terminal cancer, highlighting the thoughtful choice behind her elegant jewellery.”
