Molly-Mae Effect? Helix Piercings are Officially the UK’s Favourite

We already know that ear piercings are a must-have accessory, with celebrities, influencers and everyday style enthusiasts stacking their ears with intricate jewellery. But new data by jewellery brand PRYA has officially crowned helix piercings as the most popular ear piercing, according to Google search volume analysis.

With over 40,500 searches each month, helix piercings surpass all other styles, making them 1.5 times more popular than the second most-searched for piercing, conch piercings (27,100 searches) and just over two times as popular as tragus piercings (18,100 searches).
The trend is only set to grow following Molly-Mae Hague’s latest YouTube video, where she revealed her newly curated ear stack featuring a mix of delicate studs, sparkling hoops and a helix piercing. “As the ultimate UK influencer, Molly-Mae’s fashion choices often spark trends”, says Arwa Hassan, in-house style director at PRYA. “This means we can expect to see even more people levelling up their earring stacks in 2025.”
The most popular ear piercings:
- Helix piercing
- Conch piercing
- Daith piercing
- Tragus piercing
- Rook piercing
- Industrial piercing
- Ear lobe piercing
- Upper ear lobe piercing
While there’s a whole world of piercings to choose from, including daith, rook and industrial, helix piercings continue to dominate in 2025. And if you’re considering a new addition to your ear stack, here’s everything you need to know about this trending piercing.
What is a helix piercing?

Arwa said, “A helix piercing is located along the upper cartilage of the ear, allowing for a variety of jewellery styles, from bold studs to subtle hoops. Its versatility and stylish appeal make it go-to for those looking to elevate their ear game.”

Best types of earrings for a helix piercing
- Hoop earrings – Small, dainty hoops offer a classic and effortless look.
- Stud earrings – Simply yet stylish, studs can range from tiny diamonds to trendy shapes like lighting bolts, stars or pearls.
- Chains – A delicate chain connecting two piercings, such as helix and lobe, adds an edgy, fashion forward look.
- Cuffs – If you want a helix without the commitment, ear cuffs wrap around the cartilage for a similar effect.
How to stack earrings like a pro
Arwa told YCB, “Start by mixing different earring sizes, with larger hoops or statement pieces at the lobe and smaller studs or huggies as you move up the ear, for a balanced stack. Incorporate a mix of textures, such as sleek hoops and dainty studs, and don’t be afraid to blend metals. Following the ‘Rule of Three’, one hoop, one stud, and one statement earring, ensures a curated, effortless style, while leaving intentional gaps prevents the stack from looking overcrowded.
“With Molly-Mae leading the charge, now might be the perfect time to experiment with new piercings and jewellery combinations. Whether you opt for a single hoop or a full ear stack, the possibilities are endless!”
