Who Will Play Mr Grey?

September 6, 2012

It’s probably the most talked about book of the year, and he is possibly the most talked about man on the planet right now. I’m referring to 50 Shades of Grey and its main character, Mr. Christian Grey.

who will play mr grey?

The nation is completely obsessed. Why? I have no idea. I ask myself that question every time I hear women chatting about the best seller that took the world by storm, sex scenes that captivated both men and women, and a man, (who I absolutely cannot begin to understand ) that every female on the planet would give her right arm to have sex with. Every female except for me, that is. I personally found Christian Grey to be controlling, boring (conventionally speaking) and disgusting.

All that said, I believe I’m in the minority when it comes to loving Mr. Grey. So much so, that Hollywood producers already have the movie in the works, and are looking for the perfect actor to play Grey.

Yesterday, rumors were flying that porn star, James Deen had the part. Then today, supposedly E.L. James’ husband came out and said it would probably be Ryan Gosling. But, nothing’s been confirmed yet, so the part might still be up for grabs.

“My top picks are Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable), Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, The Change-Up)  and Matt Bomer, (White Collar, Magic Mike)” said Debbie Glickman of Chicago, “I think they all have a hotness yet a vulnerability about them.”

“Channing Tatum!” said Lisa Kappes of Chicago.

Kathy Muraviov is an L.A. based manager for screenwriters. She said she hasn’t heard anything in Hollywood other than the rumors everyone is hearing, but that her feeling is that whoever plays Christian will be an A-lister.

“I could see Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) or Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Rises),” she said, “I’d love to see an unknown cast. I’m always rooting for the underdog and I think it’s so exciting to see careers made with just one role.”

“Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper,” said Bonnie Schoenberg of Chicago, “I think it might be fun to find some unknown hot guy. I don’t know too many of the young actors from Gossip Girl but maybe some of those guys.”

Becca Wilder of Massachusetts said she would like to see Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike, I am Number Four.)

Whoever producers choose, and whoever they choose for all the other roles, 50 Shades of Grey is going to be a huge blockbuster. I have no doubt. And honestly, although I wasn’t a huge fan of the book (to put it mildly!) I will for sure go to see the movie, mainly because I really did like the concept of 50 Shades of Grey. I just had serious issues with the writing, and the unlikeable characters, and I think that when you get them on the big screen, the actors and the screenwriter and the director take care of those problems.

I heard that the script is going to be written by a woman, which makes sense, and I truly believe that she will have the ability to make Christian Grey a guy I fall in love with on-screen, regardless of how I felt about him in the book. This movie will be heartfelt and touching, and if I know Hollywood, they will put romance into this, and downplay the sleaze.

Personally, I’d love to see Ryan Gosling in the role, but I think Christian Grey could be played by any number of Hollywood hotties, as long as they can be loveable and show a soft side.

I do know this fact. Whatever cutie pie they put up there on the big screen, one thing is guaranteed: We’ll be seeing A LOT of his body.
