The Car Events Every Enthusiast Needs to Tick Off their Bucket List

November 24, 2020

Classic car events, there’s nothing quite like them. With many being postponed this year due to the pandemic, that shouldn’t stop you from planning which to tick off your list when it is safe to attend. Not only does it give you the chance to see some of the top classic cars that the world has to offer, but you gain the rare opportunity to see them up close and personal.

Afterall, it’s not often you’d see an Aston Martin DB6 or Ferrari 275 in your everyday life, so why not attend a classic car event where you can see a variety of iconic cars with likeminded enthusiasts? The Classic Car Finance Team at Cambridge & Counties Bank have created a non-exhaustive list of the classic car events that every enthusiast needs to experience in their lifetime. If you’re more into rugged adventures, consider checking out 4×4 hire perth for a different kind of automotive experience, where you can explore the wild terrain with ease. Goodwood Revival

This event is every vintage car lover’s dream. Take a step back in time to the 1940s – ‘60s at Goodwood Revival, where you can observe the road racing models that would have competed back in their peak. The three-day event is hosted at the original Goodwood racing circuit in Chichester, Sussex and features legendary cars, such as the 1961 Jaguar E-type, the 1933 Bentley ‘Barnato Hassan’ and the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT.

However, the cars are not the only thing to get excited about. Goodwood’s famous vintage dress code will also take you back to the 1940s and the swinging ‘60s. Think narrow-brimmed trilby hats and Sebago loafers for the gents and head scarves and woollen pencil skirts for the ladies. This classic car event is unmissable for classic car lovers and is certainly one you’ll want to tick off the bucket list.

Le Mans Classic

Think sunshine, fast cars and French elegance; the Le Mans Classic is a classic car event like no other. Hosted during the summer near the western French city of Le Mans, its 24-hour track is one of the longest racing tracks in the world at 13.6 kilometres. With the full-length track passing through public roads and towns, which can only be closed for the 24-hour race, this classic car event is extremely unique. Although the event sees around 1000 drivers and 1,950,000 spectators, many have said that it’s easy to approach the cars and owners, making the Le Mans Classic an even more special experience for classic car fanatics.

Pebble Beach Concours

This incredible classic car event is hosted during the summer, showing off the best of automotive excellence from the workshop supplies in England on the Californian coast at the Pebble Beach Golf Links. The August event is the finale of the famous Monterey Car Week, showcasing some of the best collector models from the pre- and post-war era, such as the 1931 Bentley 8 Litre Gurney Nutting Sports Tourer and the 1938 Talbot-Lago T150C-SS Figoni & Falaschi Teardrop Cabriolet. You can also visit https://www.conklinbuickgmchutchinson.com/gmc-acadia to know more about automobiles.

Each car is judged on a different green of the golf course, with ‘Best of Show’, ‘Most Elegant’ and ‘Class’ awards up for grabs. With many of the cars being valued in the millions, this spectacular event is certainly a prestigious affair. However, money raised from the event goes to charity, with more than $23 million raised since its founding. If you are into glamour over endurance, this classic car event should be on your bucket list.

Concorso D’Eleganza Villa de Este

Situated in Cernobbio, northern Italy, this spectacular event has been running for almost over 100 years. It’s one of the most exclusive classic automotive events in the world, attracting the best of the best from the collecting world, as well as classic car enthusiasts alike. Concorso D’Eleganza Villa de Este overlooks the stunning Lake Como and features some 50 classic cars from between 1920 and 1980 for spectators to admire. If you’re passionate about classic cars, check out this old car museum for car enthusiasts, which offers a similarly rich experience of automotive history and elegance.

To get a taste of the cars featured at this prestigious event, previous winners include the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, the Bugatti 57 S and the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB. Perhaps on the more exclusive side, if you are an avid collector or a fanatic for luxurious vintage cars, this classic event is the one to visit.

Retromobile

Retromobile is traditionally the first well-known classic automobile event of the year, hosted in February in Paris, France. The special event sees over 1,000 classic cars, 620 exhibitors and 120 clubs taking part throughout the five days. Whether you’re interested in making investments, meeting rally organisers, or wanting to find spare parts or scale models, this international event is a classic car lovers heaven.

Whilst Retromobile is hosted inside and doesn’t feature active racing, the exhibition is the perfect place to learn about and see your favourite vintage cars up close and network with other automotive fans. For a more intimate and educational experience, Retromobile is a must.

With so many incredible opportunities to see a vast array of classic cars that would feature on any enthusiast’s dream list there’s no excuse to not attend at least one of these events. There is enough to keep any car enthusiast captivated for years to come. Whether it’s a jump into the past with Goodwood, or a more luxurious outing at Concorso D’Eleganza, you won’t be disappointed. There is no doubt that classic car events will be back with a bang when it is safe to do so.
