Food Stylist Reveals How to Nail the “Fridgescaping” Trend

“Fridgescaping” has been trending all over TikTok with users inspired to try out the trend and spice up their fridges using everything from flowers to framed photographs to make the inside aesthetically pleasing.

If you have TikTok, you’ve likely seen the fridgescaping trend pop up on your feed. From Hobbiton to Barbie, themed-fridge landscapes are taking the culinary (and interior design) world by storm, so the experts at meal box subscription service Gousto are sharing their top tips to create your very own visually pleasing fridgescape.

Why fridgescaping? This trend isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating an organised, efficient, and inspiring space in your kitchen.

Gousto’s food stylist Lucinda Hankin says, “I love this trend and adore how creative it is; it never occurred to me to decorate my fridge but as a food stylist, I thought it was brilliant when I first saw people’s creations on TikTok.

“We think everyone should take pride in their kitchens, and fridgescaping is a super easy way to add some flair to yours.”

Lucinda’s top 3 tips to fridgescape like a pro

Use Pyrex dishes

Pyrex containers are incredibly visually appealing, but also very practical. They’re super useful for storing leftovers as well as keeping whole veggies fresh. They can also be used in the freezer, so they’re well worth the investment!”

Reuse old bottles and containers

“Lots of products we use every day in the kitchen are stored in beautiful jars and bottles, such as glass olive oil bottles,” Lucinda says. “After you’ve finished the initial product, why not reuse them to make infused olive oils, or simply as aesthetically pleasing storage in your fridge?

“I also love to store fresh herbs in old jam jars with some water in my fridge. This acts like a vase and looks very beautiful.”

Develop a labelling system

This is a great tip whether you’re trying to fridgescape or not. If you use colourful tape on your dishes and label it with the date and name, you’ll have a colour coordinated fridge. For example, green for vegetables, red for meat, and so on.

“This will help you stay organised and on top of what everything is and when it goes out of date,” Lucinda adds.

Transform Your Kitchen with Style and Functionality

“Fridgescaping isn’t just about the containers and labels – it’s also about the ingredients you choose to store inside. Whether you’re aiming for a Mediterranean theme with fresh herbs and olive oils or cosy autumnal spread with hearty, seasonal ingredients, what you put in your fridge can help create a cohesive and visually appealing space. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic but also makes meal prep more enjoyable and efficient.

To elevate your fridgescaping, consider how your food choices can play a dual role in both functionality and design. Organising vibrant vegetables, fresh herbs, and other colourful ingredients can transform your fridge into a visually appealing feature of your kitchen while ensuring that healthy meal preparation is a breeze.”
