Colour of the Year 2025: Here’s How to Bring True Joy Into Your Home

Every year the colour experts at Dulux hold a yearly trend forecast meeting where they invite trend forecasters, designers and architects to explore how life is impacting our colour choices, to turn trends into colour stories, and to share their vision for the year ahead. Interior designers around the world wait with bated breath to find out what the year’s trending colour will be.

With 2025 mere months away, Dulux’s choice this year is absolutely perfect; a sunny, punchy, bright yellow that oozes uplifting optimism for the new year, aptly named True Joy.

Now, Dulux is inspiring everyone to infuse a little True Joy into their designs and home decor in 2025, so if you love to create a space that feels warm and personal to you, this is your sign to grab your paint brush. Don’t mind if we do.

If you aren’t quite sure about painting your walls this bold colour, here are some other unique ways to bring bursts of True Joy into your space…

Embrace Cupboard Door Decor

Painting your kitchen pantry doors can feel like less of a commitment than painting walls, while still making your kitchen that little bit more interesting. If painting every door seems like overkill, try just a couple, like in this colourful kitchen from Sophie Robinson’s home, photographed by Brent Darby. This sun-worshipping, spontaneous style will induce a smile every dinnertime.

Give Window Frames Some Feeling

Even in the dreary winter, you can invite the sun into your home by painting your window frames. Sophie Robinson does this well, as photographed by Brent Darby. This look exudes True Joy, and makes the rain outside much less miserable when you can gaze out the window and plan your 2025 adventures next to this happy shade.

If you don’t fancy painting the window frames, give the surrounding wall a pop of colour instead. This creates an equally fun space that can be sectioned off, like this cosy, bright window nook by K’Arte Design; the ultimate reading spot.

Use Furniture To Colour Your Space

There’s no need to paint a thing if you don’t want to, as adding furniture in this show stopping colour can include it without making any permanent adjustments; helpful if you’re renting. K’Arte Design completely changed the atmosphere of this muted room with a True Joy inspired side table.

During Dulux’s yearly trend forecast meeting, they discussed the importance of celebrating all things handmade, and this is an ideal colour to bring into any DIY projects you have planned for next year – could you recreate this yellow side table with something upcycled?

Choose A Sofa That’s Sunny and Chic

While you’re adding some True Joy furniture, you can do something similar with a bright sofa or armchair. Slow Sofa has some stunning pieces in Dandelion and Canary yellow that fit this aesthetic perfectly, helping you put this vibrant colour at the very core of your living space.

If you love to design your environment in a way that positively influences your mood, the Dulux Colour of the Year 2025 should definitely feature in the next room you re-decorate. Whether you are trying out some DIY projects, adding the shade to a statement wall, or experimenting with little licks of paint in quirky places around your home, True Joy is all about embracing your unique personality and putting a smile on every face that walks into your home.
