21% of respondents in YouGov survey aim to save more and spend less in 2025, making financial health a top priority

A recent study spills the tea on what Brits are hoping to achieve this year, with saving money topping the list.

From getting fitter and becoming a better person to finally sticking to a budget, people are all about self-improvement and smart choices. 

Using YouGov data, researchers ranked the nation’s preferred New Year’s resolutions, offering a fresh glimpse into what’s motivating Brits to level up in 2025.

1. Save More / Spend Less

No one wants to start the year with financial stress hanging over them. That’s why 21% of people are making it their mission to save more and spend less in 2025. Whether it’s cutting down on impulse buys or setting aside more for the future, many are ready to take control of their finances and make smarter decisions with their cash.

2. Get Fit / Exercise More

The classic resolution that never goes out of style. Getting fit is on the mind of 17% of respondents this year, with a focus on getting active and sticking to a fitness routine. Whether it’s hitting the gym, taking up yoga, or going for regular walks, people are ready to make their health a priority and start 2025 feeling stronger and more energized.

3. Lose Weight

For 16% of those surveyed, 2025 is the year to shed a few extra pounds and feel more confident. Whether it’s through healthier eating, regular workouts, or simply being more mindful about their habits, these individuals are aiming to focus on their physical health and make lasting changes to feel better in their own skin.

4. Gain New Skills and Knowledge

It’s all about growth in 2025! For 7% of people, the new year is an opportunity to learn something new and expand their horizons. Whether it’s taking a class, learning a new language, or picking up a creative hobby, many are excited about boosting their skills and enriching their lives with fresh knowledge and experiences.

4. Better Health

Health is wealth, and for another 7% of respondents, 2025 is all about prioritizing overall well-being. This resolution goes beyond just physical fitness, it’s about taking care of mental health, reducing stress, and adopting habits that support long-term wellness. People are aiming for a balanced, healthy lifestyle that supports their body and mind, making it a top priority this year.

6. Eat More Healthily, Be a Better Person, and Spend More Time with Loved Ones

For 5% of respondents, 2025 is all about improving various aspects of life that contribute to overall well-being. Whether it’s committing to healthier eating habits, becoming a better person by improving one’s attitude and personality, or dedicating more time to strengthen relationships with friends and family, these resolutions reflect a balanced approach to personal growth. People are looking to cultivate healthier relationships with both themselves and others, creating a positive ripple effect in all areas of their lives.
