The best destinations for a spa weekend

At Your Coffee Break, we enjoy a good pamper! Whether it be booking in for a haircut, attending our weekly nail appointment or heading off for our monthly massage. It’s good to take care of yourself with a bit of ‘me time’, unwinding from the daily stresses. Today though, we’re taking it a bit further than an appointment, we’re talking about the best spa weekends for total tranquillity, relaxation and wellbeing.

These are the ultimate destinations that combine calm with luxury and a little indulgence. We’ve picked out the best spas in the world to spend a few days with your partner or your group of girls. Get those slippers at the ready because you’re going to craving a weekend away after laying your eyes upon these outstanding spa retreats.

Blue Lagoon Spa – Iceland

Blue Lagoon Spa – Iceland

Ok we had to talk about this first, because how amazing? Those blue waters are just calling our name. Powered by 100% clean geothermal energy, the Blue Lagoon is definitely a destination that should be on your travel bucket list. The spa itself offers a range of unique treatments, including an in-water massage, yes really! There are plenty of sights to be seen, not to mention adventures to be had in Iceland – Northern lights anyone? Sign us up.

Four Seasons Sayan – Bali

Four Seasons Sayan - Bali

Bali is a breath-taking location to visit, so a luxury spa set in this paradise? It’s sure to be pretty amazing. Cross over a charming wooden bridge to find yourself in a valley of lush green and a truly magical tropical haven. Enjoy complimentary sunrise yoga classes, meditation classes and Balinese dance classes (we aren’t sure either but we’re certainly curious) as well as various garden tours, cycling tours plus unlimited use of the steam and sauna rooms. Just what you will need after an afternoon spent cycling around the island!

Royal Mansour Hotel – Marrakech

Luxury doesn’t come much finer than this. And we hate to say it, but this retreat is SO Instagrammable. Like really. Engulfed in pure white with marble features and luxurious neutral velour cushions, the décor is second to none. Glide through this heavenly palace and enjoy the luxury Hammam, at the heart of the spa the Hammam provides guests with a signature bathing ritual with a cold plunge pool – which we might just have to pass on.

The Chedi Andermatt – Switzerland

With a stunning Alpine setting, the air doesn’t get much clearer than this. The views are sheer bliss and the retreat offers a refreshing environment with plenty of facilities to enjoy. Waking up to a morning swim with mountain views? Sounds practically perfect to us. There are also 90-minute mountain walks that set off twice a day if you fancy adding a little exercise and adventure into your trip. Or if you find it hard to the leave the sauna, we won’t judge you.

The Spa at Bedford Lodge – Suffolk

The Spa at Bedford Lodge – Suffolk

We can vouch for this one, being one of our favourite UK based spas for a weekend of pure relaxation and calm. Based in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, you can escape the hustle and bustle of London to an area which much less traffic and much more field. Reachable by train in just over an hour from Kings Cross, Newmarket is home to the races and also close to the picturesque University City of Cambridge. The spa is set in a stunning Georgian building and luxurious lounge area as well as top notch facilities including a particularly impressive hydrotherapy pool.

43 The Spa – Barcelona

43 The Spa – Barcelona

Located on the 43rd floor of the Hotel Arts (perhaps not for those with a fear of heights), this spa break caters for everybody’s tastes, combining that city buzz with the sand and sea. You won’t be short of sightseeing opportunities here, this city is one of our absolute favourites and for us, it’s any excuse to head back! The spa itself offers extraordinary sea and city views and is well equipped with eight treatment suites, saunas, steam rooms and a menu of treatments to choose from. *Rushes to EasyJet to scout out some last minute Barcelona flights*.

Has our spa guide inspired you to book a relaxing getaway? Are there any we should be adding to our list?
