The last five years have seen a significant increase in popularity for all things organic as people start to put quality first. The on-going revival of organic foods has not gone unnoticed by Diversified Communications, the organisers of the highly successful natural and organic trade shows that takes place in London, Scandinavia, Hong Kong and Australia. After months of discussions, they have announced the launch of The Go Organic Festival, which is set to take place at London’s iconic Battersea Park over the weekend of 8-9th September 2018. The festival will be celebrating all that’s great about organic for both foodies and families alike.
The organisers, who are also the publishers of Natural Products magazine and Natural Products Global, aim to stage the biggest celebration for the ever-growing sector. The managing director of Diversified, Carsten Holm, believes that there is a clear need for a major new event as the 2017 Soil Association Report states that total sales of organic are up by 7.1% for the fifth consecutive year. The growth within the sector, coupled with the increasing demand for an event of this sort, shows just how well the industry is returning after it was damaged by the economic downturn.
The organisers have not only styled themselves on some of the country’s most-loved festivals but they have managed to incorporate a campaigning spirit and a sense of purpose into their event. The festival will take place at Battersea Park and will include a large purpose-built indoor area with over one hundred exhibitors that range from health, lifestyle, beauty and food.
The large outdoor space will provide family-friendly activities as well as live music from various bands and DJs. The festival will accommodate to all ages with entertainment that includes a fun fair, an organic farm with real animals, a beer tent that will stock organic beer, wine and cider, comedy shows, farmer talks, cooking demonstrations from famous chefs and seminars covering key areas in natural and organic lifestyle.
The festival will be held at the start of Organic September, a charity project run by the Soil Association that campaigns for healthy, humane and sustainable food. Although we hope that the sun will still be shining come September, the combination of both the indoor and outdoor spaces will cater for all weather eventualities and it promises to be an incredible day out celebrating everything that’s great about organic.
Catherine Fookes, the director of the Organic Trade Board Campaign, is delighted that Diversified are not only helping celebrate organic but are also bringing it to a wider audience as their own mission continues to focus on growing organic sales in the UK. As more of us are becoming conscious of the health and environmental benefits of buying organic products, the festival should help drive sales of organic food and drink.
Clare McDermott, the business development director of the Soil Association, has also praised the festival’s unique opportunity to share all things organic with a wide group of people in a fun, festival setting. As organic is becoming more pertinent in our lives and is no longer appealing exclusively to the foodie, McDermott hopes that the festival will showcase the amazing products and innovation in organic today.
The festival is set to attract over 10,000 visitors over the two days and guarantees a weekend of fun and festivities. The Go Organic Festival will bring people together to appreciate the importance of organic food and sustainable lifestyle options and all in time for sunny Organic September!
