With the new ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ film bringing the adventures of author A.A Milne’s iconic ‘Winnie The Pooh’ to life later this month, why not let your little ones create their very own ‘Hundred Acre Wood’ adventures at Landal Darwin Forest.
Starring Margot Robbie (Daphne de Selincourt), Domhnall Gleeson (A.A. Milne) and Kelly Macdonald (Olive, Christopher Robin’s nanny), the film follows A.A. Milne and his creation Winnie-the-Pooh.
Directed by Simon Curtis and written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughan, the story starts with the couple’s son, Christoper Robin, gone missing from his battalion and is presumed dead. Set during World War II, A.A. Milne comes back from his military service determined to speak out against the war, though his legacy was to be a series of children’s books instead. These imaginative stories that A.A. Milne wrote about his son became so famous that Christopher Robin is soon Harry Potter of his day.
Set to be released in the UK on 29 September, the film seems fixated on the irony that the boy every child in Britain wanted to be was quite unhappy in his own skin… Milne gets so rapped up in his success that he doesn’t see the storm clouds forming overhead, oblivious to the fact that he is condemning his son to the same horrors that once haunted him.
For an adventure to rival Christopher Robin’s, the 44 acre woodland paradise is set in the heart of Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From archery classes, swimming pool sea-scooters, The Little Monkeys indoor soft play area and woodland walks – for a quick game of ‘pooh sticks’ – there is something to keep the whole family entertained.
A stay at Landal Darwin Forest this winter starts from £299.00 per person based on four people sharing one of the cosy ‘Haddon Classic 2’ luxury lodges. All the home-from-home comforts including flat screen TV’s, kitchen utensils, luxury toiletries by Rituals and an outdoor hot tub are all included (selected accommodation only). Bliss!
