Americans made their final decision and the long and bitter battle for presidency finally came to a close. Cheers burst throughout the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago as the television networks began projecting Obama as the new president of the United States at 11:20 p.m.
As Barak Obama reassured the country in his victory speech “The best is yet to come”, Katy Perry tweeted, “DONE AND DUSTED!!! The people have the power! Proud to stand by you for 4 more years.” Social media sites were set on fire, and the battle between supporters of Romney and Obama waned on with twitter users tweeting 11,000 election-related posts per minute. Before most polls closed, the hashtag “#election2012” exceeded 11 million tweets. Katy Perry, Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria are among few of the many celebs that played essential parts in the Obama campaign and publicly expressed their excitement.
