The 70th Venice International Film Festival: Best Dressed
The 70th Venice International Film Festival is in full swing, taking place between August 28- September 7. The world’s oldest film festival is also undoubtedly one of the most glamorous, with the Hollywood elite descending at the festival and setting the red carpet alight with that slick, LA chic that we all adore. The weekend was suitably glitzy, with Dakota Fanning and Dame Judi Dench at the centre of all attention. Both were dressed in glittery, embellished gowns exuding poise and grace.
The style stakes have been high, with our favourite starlets pulling out some real showstoppers. The looks for the festival seem to be falling into three of our favourite current trends; summer brights, dark & sultry and nearly nudes with a dash of androgyny thrown in for good measure.
Sandra Bullock stole the show on opening night, in a vibrant red J Mendel gown with black accessories and the ever-dashing George Clooney on her arm. She wasn’t the only one to opt for lively hues, with Frida Pinto and Michelle Dockery both stepping out in brightly coloured Miu Miu dresses.
When it came to full on sultry glamour, the stunning Dakota Fanning hit the mark with a gleaming navy Elie Saab gown with a deep V neckline. The glamorous ensemble was one of the many chic guises she’s been spotted in over the last few days; most notably an edgy nude leather Alexander McQueen mini-dress from the Resort 2014 collection, which she paired with brown Rupert Sanderson pumps.
Mia Wasikowska also wowed in a refined monochrome, sporting a Nina Ricci lace halterneck gown and mixing it up with a Proenza Schouler Resort 2014 black and white t-shirt sleeve dress.
With a few more days of the festival to go we will undoubtedly see many more stunning gowns gracing the red carpet. Your Coffee Break can’t wait for the rest of the fashion forward looks that the A-list will rocking out.
