This Inspiring Artist Will Help You Make Your Home Pinterest Worthy

If you’re anything like us then you are quite interested in art but it stresses you out when it comes to choosing it for your home because, let’s face it, art is quite complex. But that was before we discovered Copenhagen-based artist and painter Vibeke Lerfeldt Bjerker. Her paintings are colourful, bold, whimsical and will have your friends oohing and ahhing all over the place and asking about your keen art eye. Take a look at this beautiful creation.

She describes her works as, “Colorful melodies that speak to the imagination and give character to the home.” And she could not be more right.

So who is this contemporary artist? Forty-two year old Danish born Bjerker has been painting her whole life but her career has really taken off in the last 10 years. Mostly self-taught (though she does attribute learning a lot from artist Thomas Lindvig), she found her style by experimenting. “In 2016 I found the style that really is me and now I work within my own abstract genre, which I expand quietly. I do not want to stand still, but I am glad for the expression I have found and like to move in that field,” she told YCB.

She worked as a professional graphic designer as well as a marketing manager at Humac, the biggest northern Apple Premium Reseller. However, in the last two years her brand has really taken off with her work being sold at Carre D’Artistes in Paris. “Paris is the biggest you can hope for! It’s one of the wildest things that have ever happened to me. I have since sent several shipments of paintings to Paris because there is demand and I am SO proud and happy. When I reached over 10,000 followers on my facebook page, it was also a huge milestone. Those who like my art and those who buy my art, allow me to have the life I have – to do what I love most. I’m really proud and grateful for the interest.”

As for how she finds her inspiration, the mother of a 2-year-old daughter told YCB, “I’m inspired by everything. When I’m busy, when I’m relaxing when I’m out walking, cycling,  when I am on holiday, when I am in creative places. It can be beautiful colours in a window, a poster on the street, a photo on Pinterest, a nice nail polish … practically everything inspires me.

“I always think about the paint processes. I am very passionate and I LOVE to paint – therefore, I think everything gives me a creative inspiration cubicle.” She continued, “The most important time is probably where I’m away from the studio and form the ideas in my mind. They come out on the canvas on the days when I work in the studio. But never as a complete reflection – I have ideas but it is always something else that comes out. The shapes and colours leads my flow, so my painting is incredibly intuitive. I can never stick to a plan – I’m too creative to do that. Therefore, it is not often I say yes to “order paintings”. They are not my strong side. I work in the present.”

Though she doesn’t really have a typical customer Bjerker says, “My customers fall for a specific painting and may not necessarily like my other paintings. What I think characterizes my customer is that they like to embrace art that makes them happy and that they like colours – just like me.” Prices of her paintings range from 600 kr to 13.000 kr and can be shipped all over the world from various sites including her own.

Though she mostly lives in the present she will be launching an organic bedlining based on her own designs. “It has always been astonishing to me that we often limit the art of hanging on a wall or standing on a rack. I believe that in everyday life we should meet art in different situations. Art is alive, and therefore we must also experience the art in everyday moments and practical tasks. So we are inspired during the day, and not only find inspiration, when we have time to stop looking at a work. Therefore, I have long wanted to explore my art in other forms than canvas. Why not shine in art and let it be the first thing you meet in the morning?” She and her partner have launched ART FOR LIVING, which focuses on art for everyday moments. “Our first step on this trip is the exclusive bed linen with my work DON’T LOOK DOWN, which you can order here on my website www.bjerker.com.”
