Pops of Pink: How to Incorporate Spring’s Biggest Interior Trend into Your Home

Spring has officially sprung, and with it, bold and vibrant shades of pink have blossomed into the season’s most coveted colour. Whether you’re embracing last year’s favourite, Barbie pink, or opting for a softer, muted shade, it’s clear that pink is making its mark on the interior world. Ally Dowsing-Reynolds, co-founder and interior expert at Dowsing & Reynolds, shares her advice on how to incorporate pink into your home, offering tips and ideas on styling the playful tones to create a sophisticated look.
“Despite its previous connotations, pink is no longer reserved for children’s bedrooms and dated bathrooms. The beauty of this shade lies in its versatility and ability to work in many different spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to bedrooms and living rooms. Adding this shade to your home doesn’t have to mean re-painting your space; it can be as simple as adding a pop of pink through small details in your space such as light switches and sockets. The key when styling pink in the home is finding a balance and pairing it with other colours and textures to create a modern, fun look with some personality!” Ally recommends.
Adding pops of pink into your space
The colour pink may bring to mind a vibrant shade, however, it comes in a vast variety of shades with something for everyone. “Punchy bubblegum pinks, pastel blush tones and bright fuchsias are just some of the many options available. I would suggest starting small, especially if you are experimenting with colour in your home for the first time. Start by adding pops of pink through accessories. These can bring instant warmth to your space without being too overpowering.” Says Ally.
How to use pink in 5 areas of the home
While pink can work in almost any space, some are better suited to certain hues. It is always important to consider the size of the room, the amount of natural lighting and the intended use before decorating, these factors can help to curate the perfect space personal to you.
- Living Rooms
“When using pink shades in the living room, there are a variety of options available, depending on how bold you want to go. If you’re looking for a subtle pop of pink, incorporate a muted shade as a feature wall or upgrade picture frames and light switches to pink ones for a fun look.
“Adding a pink sofa to your living space will give it an instantly striking look; pairing this with other shades of pink throughout the room can also give it a cohesive feel. Be sure not to use more than 3 shades of pink in each room as it can become overpowering and disjointed.”
- Home Offices
As more people work from home, there has, not surprisingly, been an increase in home office decorating. Adding a touch of personality to your office with pink accents can help to give the room an updated feel and lift your mood throughout the working day.
Ally tells us, “An office space gives you a great opportunity to experiment with colour, and painting a feature wall can be a great place to start, using the wall your desk sits against to ensure you get the best mood-boosting benefits. A candyfloss or flamingo pink shade can make a statement, whereas a subtle plaster pink or mauvey shade works well if you’re not feeling as brave.”
- Bathrooms
“The bathroom is where you can really go wild with pink. I find that bathrooms can sometimes be the forgotten room of the home, often with drab decor. By incorporating pink into the bathroom with accessories, like towels, soap dispensers, towel rails and shower curtains. Don’t forget to play with your bathroom taps too to truly update your space and add a playful edge.
“If you want to go bolder, add pink tiles or paint the walls in your favourite pink shade. As bathrooms are usually smaller than other rooms in the home, always consider the shades you are using. Avoid darker shades if you want the room to look bigger, and if the room lacks natural light, opt for a shiny tile over matte as this allows more light to bounce off the tiles around the space, giving the illusion of a bigger room.”
- Bedrooms
“Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, a place you can relax and unwind. For that reason, soft and calming shades of pink such as rose, blush and powder pink work well. These can be incorporated through bedding and other soft furnishings or by painting doors, skirting boards and wardrobes in these shades.”
- Kitchens
“Kitchens are often the most neutral areas of our homes, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Adding pops of pink in the kitchen through hardware, such as taps, cabinet handles, and lighting, can bring an unexpected, quirky look to kitchens. Opt for fun vibrant shades to give the space a modern feel.
“In bright kitchens, painting cabinets in a salmon or candy pink colour can work well to add warmth and personality to the space. To add a sophisticated touch, pair the pink cabinets with gold or brass hardware, creating an elevated contrast.”

Ally continues: “An emerging trend for 2025 is the addition of bold hardware options in the home. As the popularity of pink home decor continues to rise I predict we will see pink hardware begin to make an appearance. Light switches, taps, cabinet handles, and even light fixtures and plug sockets were once confined to either black, white or metallic shades, but it’s time for them to have a makeover.

Our Miami Pink range offers all the pink hardware you need to give your home a bold refresh, from door handles and light switches to pink extension leads.”
