How to Create a Easter Table Using Houseplants and Colour Trends

April 15, 2025

If you’re hosting an Easter gathering this year, or entertaining at all during the spring season, Jo, founder of Beards & Daisies and author of The Unkillables, has thoughtfully curated a collection of tips and ideas to help YCB readers to design the perfect tablescape. From using houseplants and fresh flowers to adding seasonal touches like decorative eggs, her guide is full of inspiration to bring natural beauty to your table setting.

Fresh Colour Palette

Spring is the season of soft pastels and light, earthy tones. Blush pinks, buttery yellows, lavender, sage green, and sky blue are really on trend this year. Begin with a neutral or soft-toned tablecloth or runner to set the tone, then layer with napkins, dinnerware, and glassware in complementary colours. Don’t be afraid to mix textures either, linen, ceramics, and frosted glass can all work beautifully together.

Tip: Gold or brass cutlery matches Spring tones perfectly.

Incorporate Houseplants and Flowers

Create a fresh, spring-inspired tablescape with beautiful floral arrangements and houseplants. Small potted plants like ferns, white jasmine, and peace lilies are perfect for centerpieces or place settings. Pop them in ceramic pots, vintage teacups, or woven baskets for a Spring touch. They’ll not only brighten up the space but also make lovely party favours for guests to take home.

Tip: A bonsai tree can make a unique addition to your table setting. Its quirky, miniature shape adds a whimsical touch that’s perfect for this season. It’s a perfect way to bring a bit of nature indoors, while standing out as a conversation starter at your spring gathering.

Succulents: Cute, Compact & On-Trend

Succulents are a great way to add colour and structure to your table. Group a few in a shallow tray filled with white pebbles or moss for a beautiful, low-maintenance centerpiece.

Tip: You can also use individual mini succulents at each place setting, tied with name tags for a personal touch.

Moss & Natural Elements

Moss is beautiful to use in spring table styling. Use it as a natural runner down the center of your table, layered with eggshells, pastel candles, and scattered faux flowers. It creates a feel that’s perfect for Easter.

Add other natural textures like:

  • Birchwood or rattan chargers
  • Wicker baskets filled with eggs
  • Twine-wrapped napkin rings
  • Dried bunny tail grass or pampas in vases

Easter Touches

While you’re aiming for a chic, earthy feel, don’t forget to have a little fun with Easter décor. Hand-painted eggs, ceramic bunnies, or an Easter tree made with pussy willow branches and hanging ornaments can add a festive touch, just keep them subtle and within your color scheme to maintain that polished look.

Light

Soft lighting is essential for setting the mood. Try mixing pillar candles, tea lights in glass jars, or even fairy lights woven into your centerpiece for an inviting vibe. If you’re hosting brunch, take advantage of natural light, open the curtains and set the table near a window if possible. Or, if the weather’s nice, why not take it outside and enjoy your meal in the fresh air.

Persona

A beautiful tablescape isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Add handwritten menus, small thank-you cards, or even homemade treats at each setting.
